Message from the Dean

Last week, the Alaska Ocean Observing System held its fall board meeting in Anchorage, followed by an evening celebration of 21 years of productive research, education and outreach programs related to Alaska’s ocean and coastal waters. The celebratory event provided a wonderful reflection of a great organization and people and an important stakeholder of CFOS. Kudos to director Sheyna Wisdom, former director Molly McCammon, and all the great AOOS staff for making this a productive board meeting and enjoyable evening.

This week, we will hold a meeting with the CFOS Advisory Council to discuss near-term actions and goals, including a focus on increasing our development work with the ÃÛÌÒTV executive director for university advancement, Tom Hough. Seth Danielson has kindly agreed to present an overview of some of his research and collaborations. This is the first in a series of monthly touch-base (virtual) meetings with the Advisory Council and an opportunity for engagement with our faculty  going forward.

As in prior years, CFOS will have a booth at the annual , which will take place December 15–19 in New Orleans. We look forward to seeing CFOS researchers present their work—and if you plan to attend, please stop by the booth!
