Job Opportunities
We’re looking for someone with strong attention to detail who can effectively prioritize
and manage a fast-paced, dynamic workload. It’s important to be diligent and follow
tasks through to completion, especially under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who is comfortable researching and
interpreting rules, policies, and complex information. A solid foundation in math
is also important to support accounting-related tasks, along with a basic understanding
of automated accounting systems.
Strong communication skills are key—clearly explaining and summarizing information
for a variety of audiences is essential. Experience with tools like Microsoft Office,
Google Workspace, and similar platforms is expected, particularly the ability to work
confidently with spreadsheets, email, and calendars.
This role also requires the ability to analyze complex, multifaceted issues while
working closely with IAB PIs and staff. Maintaining confidentiality when handling
sensitive information is critical, as is providing a high level of customer service
to internal and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with regulations and guidelines, such as the OMB Uniform Guidance, the
CFR, GAAP, UA Statewide accounting procedures, UA BOR policies, and OGCA policies,
is important, especially as they relate to managing restricted funds. Experience with
grant proposals, awards, and restricted funding processes is also highly valuable.
Incumbent will work independently with an assigned PI listing. Responsible for all projects funded for the PI listing. Must have excellent attendance and be extraordinarily dependable. Position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills as they will deal with PI's, faculty, staff and other UA departments on a daily basis. Must be proactive in seeking assistance and offering solutions with regard to problem-solving.
Two years experience as fiscal technician in a restricted fund environment, working
familiarity with Banner financial screens.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related field and two years of relevant
experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
POSITION DETAILS
This position is located on the Troth Yeddah campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the , Grade 78, based on education and experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Aleut PM Holding Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our finance team within the construction and project management environment. This role offers hands-on exposure to job cost accounting, project budgeting, and financial operations specific to the construction industry. The intern will assist in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting project-based accounting processes, with a clear pathway for growth within the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with daily accounting tasks, including data entry and account reconciliations • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Help prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries
- Review and process invoices, expense reports, and transactions
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Conduct basic financial analysis and research as needed
- Collaborate with team members on special projects and audits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong interest in construction or project-based accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
