At the direction of UA President Jim Johnsen, a new organizational structure for information technology will be formed with separate units at ÃÛÌÒTV and statewide. A transition team will look at options for dividing responsibilities between those units.

ÃÛÌÒTV’s IT unit will be similar to the existing units at UAA and UAS, which are led by a chief information officer. Martha Mason currently serves as ÃÛÌÒTV’s chief information officer/director of user services and also as statewide’s interim chief information technology officer. Given the new structure, those roles at both ÃÛÌÒTV and statewide will be different and therefore new position descriptions are being developed. Recruitments for both of these revised positions will begin soon.

The new ÃÛÌÒTV IT unit will report to Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services Kari Burrell, who has been serving as ÃÛÌÒTV’s executive officer since her hire in 2013, and assumed the VCAS duties in 2014. With the added responsibility of ÃÛÌÒTV IT, the vice chancellor of administrative services and executive officer positions will be separated. Burrell will continue in her role as vice chancellor. The executive officer position will be filled at a future date.
