The accreditation followed a multiyear peer-review process and signifies that the program has met nationally recognized standards for teacher preparation programs.
CAEP, the only national accreditor for education preparation in the U.S., reviewed multiple facets of TV’s program, including standards for student quality and recruitment, and systems for monitoring program effectiveness and making improvements. The review also tracks how effective graduates are when they become teachers and whether their students are achieving academically. A team visited TV in April to complete an in-person review process.
TV School of Education director Amy Vinlove said the accreditation process required an enormous amount of time and dedication from faculty members.
“CAEP accreditation validates the high quality of teacher preparation received by our students and our graduates,” she said. “It assures employers that TV graduates are well-prepared to teach the children of Alaska.”
CAEP accreditation will be in effect through 2024. The TV School of Education was previously accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
