International Arctic Research Center founder Syun-Ichi Akasofu will speak about his life at the ÃÛÌÒTVduring a free public lecture Friday, March 13 at the Elvey Auditorium.

Akasofu came to the ÃÛÌÒTVin 1958 as a graduate assistant, working for Sydney Chapman.

Through the years, Akasofu earned international recognition for his aurora work. In addition to founding IARC, he served as the director of the ÃÛÌÒTV Geophysical Institute and was instrumental in the establishment of the Alaska Volcano Observatory and the modernization of Poker Flat Research Range.
