Raymond and Bond receive leadership awards

Two ACEP members received University of Alaska’s awards in October.
Leasi Vanessa Lee Raymond, ACEP’s deputy director for strategic initiatives, was awarded an ALI Arctic Engagement award for a project to explore energy planning informed by future climate models with , research associate professor at the TV International Arctic Research Center.
The interdisciplinary project, “Taking the Long View: Bridging Climate Science and Energy Planning in Rural Alaska,” connects climate research to rural infrastructure and planning. ACEP’s Michelle Wilber, Bax Bond, Nathan Green and Ian MacDougall represent ACEP’s energy modelling and data needs. They collaborate and coordinate with IARC researchers to get downscaled climate model outputs for future prediction of energy resource availability.

Bond, a research professional with ACEP and master’s student in electrical engineering at TV, was recognized as one of ALI’s 2025-2026 student cohort who share commitment and passion for Alaska and Arctic issues. The cohort activities include attending the Arctic Leadership Lecture series, challenge projects and two program retreats.
ALI aims to empower future generations with the skills, network and expertise to help Alaska be the driver of its future in the Arctic.
